OVERVIEW

NYSERDA, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Project Manager to join our team to help implement Salesforce throughout the organization.

The position supports an overall business transformation using CRM and Force.com development that is currently in its third year and includes managing three types of activities: (1) around 10-12 rapid new builds per year using a library of business objects and existing modular functionality, (2) two custom builds per year; and (3) support activities, ranging from case resolution, to understanding downstream impacts to the data mart and data warehouse, to the next iteration of the integration between Salesforce and NYSERDA’s contract management and financial management system, Oracle PeopleSoft (9.2).

The position will work to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget while meeting the highest standards of quality in support of the organization’s mission: to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout New York State.

The Project Manager will help meet additional business objectives, including continual improvement of business processes (in conjunction with a team of business analysts using lean methods) and further developing business solutions using modular / reusable functionality to support common needs across the enterprise, such as application intake, program management, invoicing and reporting, and system integration with multiple actors outside the organization. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of multiple concurrent projects starting with initiation through project closeout.

The Project Manager will lead the team and help them both understand and abide by project management best practices: proactive risk identification and management as well as a keen eye for identifying and documenting the critical path to ensuring successful execution. The Project Manager will diagnose problems quickly and devise viable solutions, seeing trends or gaps in development that lie beyond the by-the-book approaches and will propose and implement solutions to address root causes. On a day-to-day basis, the team will use SharePoint in Office 365 as a repository for documentation. The Project Manager should also help execute the shift from old ways of working to using collaboration tools like Chatter in addition to others.

The Salesforce Project Manager must be able to communicate effectively and:

  • Hold regular status meetings with the project team.
  • Appropriately plan and facilitate meetings leveraging video conferencing, WebEx, and / or conference calls.
  • Schedule meetings with multiple stakeholders with challenging calendars and in various locations, which often requires assisting stakeholders to shift around other meetings to accommodate.
  • Present relevant project information to project sponsors and executive staff.
  • Deliver engaging, informative, and well-organized presentations.
  • Spot, resolve and / or escalate issues in a timely way.

Ability to communicate difficult / sensitive information tactfully.

Experience Level: senior


The Contractor should be able to demonstrate the following qualifications

  • 5 years of experience as a Project Manager leading transformative, impactful initiatives with large IT development components
  • 4+ years of experience as a business analyst
  • Some experience with the following a plus, though it should be noted that we are not seeking a developer:
  • Salesforce Administrator or Developer certification
  • Microsoft Project and SharePoint O365 proficiency required
  • PMP and Agile training or certification a plus.
  • Experience managing projects with an off-shore component a plus
  • Interest and experience in energy and energy efficiency
  • Prior experience in government is beneficial, but not required
