Inspired Packaging. A World of Difference

Reporting to the Production Manager this position provides technical support to the plant by coordinating trials, troubleshooting productivity issues and assisting operations with solutions to minimize downtime and maximize speed. This position will demand innovative solutions in new technologies and the transfer of these technologies to existing process methods, working closely with Marketing, New Product Development, Sales, Customers, and Research & Development (primarily microwave packaging) by performing the following duties:

  • Comply with all Company and department safety policies, procedures and programs. Identify safety short falls and strives to eliminate them.
  • Identify opportunities and directs efforts to improve existing processes to improve productivity, quality and / or reduce costs.
  • Ensure that supervision follows the established training guidelines. May be asked to train or orientate new supervisors or fill in as a supervisor as needed.
  • Manage testing in support of the plant for process improvements, new product development, second source qualification, and sales growth opportunities.
  • Identify and quantify quality problems with materials and / or processes and recommends solutions including vendor qualification, process change or modification, machine modification, and use of improved materials.
  • Contribute to the achievement of project objectives by participating in or leading design reviews or project team meetings.
  • Achieve and maintain strong working knowledge of applicable technological advances
  • Contribute to the plants improvements by recommending areas of investigation and conducting process studies.

Required Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and management skills
  • In-depth understanding of packaging and related fields
  • Strong PC skills, specifically Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals within all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
  • Thorough understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Strong working knowledge of Six Sigma is a plus
  • Excellent leadership skills required

Required Experience

A four-year degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering plus 2-5 years manufacturing experience is required.

Prior experience in the folding carton/packaging industry preferred
